AGL’s initial implementation of their Dense Data IOT platform was Vetrax in the Animal Health and Wellness space.
The Vetrax innovation team envisioned providing a voice to animals through behavior quantification and analytics. The behavior analytics would enable a veterinarian or pet parent to “talk to his/her dog” via behaviors that were proxies for disease or wellness states. For example, a dog experiencing dermatological allergies could “communicate” its discomfort or pain through pruritic behaviors like scratching, head shaking or sleep quality. A veterinarian could establish a baseline behavior pattern for the dog (average seconds scratching and/ or shaking per day) and then implement a treatment (bath, nutritional or pharmaceutical product) to see how the dog communicated its response to the treatment.
This innovation model included capturing high density accelerometer data via the AGL sensor on the dog’s collar, uploading data via wi-fi to cloud infrastructure, processing the data through proprietary animal behavior algorithms and the displaying analytic views back to the Pet Parent and Veterinarian. Vetrax has been deployed to over 600 veterinary clinics and collected over 150,000 dog days of behavior data.
